Hi all,
does anyone here use hot spot clicker? it's a program where you can set up hot spots for places on the screen where you need to left mouse click, so you can assign a hot key to it, and you can create prompts when jaws doesn't prompt you on what to do in certain situations. it sounds a bit hard in some ways, but it's suppose to be good for those of us who aren't inclined to learn the scripting language so we can write our own scripts. when you install it, if it finds more than one jaws on your system, it willask which jaws you want to install the scripts in. it will also make a back up copy of your original jaws script settings just in case something goes awry. Jim snowbarger gave a demonstration of it in word pad, just to show how it works. I listened to a brief audio tutorial where this one was going through installing sets, which i think are a lots of hot spots together, and when he installed it, he chose not to make a back up copy of his original settings, which sees a mistake to me, but nothing went wrong fortunately. he was demonstrating importing sets in to sonar 5 and 6, whatever that is. What i really wanted to do was make some hot spots for paltalk, and maybe create a hotspot that will automatically tell me when someone comes in to and leaves a room, and automatically read text if anyone sends text messages to th eroom, but i think i'd want to be able to turn it on or off. Before you can create hotspots or prompts with hot clicker, you have to connect th eprogram to hot spot clicker, which involves going in the script manager, and seeing if there are any factory default scripts. you have to copy a line that goes something like, "usehotspotClicker:.jsb
and paste it in the blank line if there aren't any scripts listed and the script edit field is blank. And if you should decide to uninstall the program, you have to undoall those things you did, because the uninstaller doesn't know about any of th echanges, so if you don't undo them, you getr an error message in the program. So was just wondering if anyone uses this program, or has tried tocreate hotspots with other programs, and if so, how did they work? I kind of wanted to download it and play around with it, but kind of afraid to. thanks,

No, I haven't created them, and I haven't used JAWS for a while. However, if I were you, before playing around with that, why not get on google and type in the program plus JAWS Scripts? I am sure you will find scripts other users did. Also, get on the JAWS mailing lists. I am sure some of those users have scripts.
A couple small—but very major—misconceptions: hotSpotClicker is a collection of jaws scripts void of any software interface. You don't create 'scripts' for the clicker; you create sets for the various applications you wish processed.
If interested, visit the excellent HotSpotClicker.org site.
The latest versions of the clicker, the audio tutorial, a myriad of sets for sonar (a music producing application), and documentation (in quick start and detailed form) are included therein.
yeah but is it possible to create a hotspot or set that will automatically speak it when people enter and leave a room? or read text aloud when someone types text in a room?

yes, if you were creative. lol
My advice would be to read the documentation and decide if the clicker can suit your needs. Alternatively, I seem to remember that Paltalk scripts—in some incarnation—were developed; try googling for them. The functionality you desire might already exist in such a package, thus eliminating your need to reinvent the wheel.
thanks i'll do that. I think i'd rather do that if there are any scripts that will work with jaws 7 and paltalk version 9.1.
